Dear our honourable, the city Mayor of Samarinda, Mr. Syahrie Jaang, SH, MSi also the citizen of Samarinda.
This open letter is written to complete our English Project of SMAN 10 Samarinda also to share our opinion and suggestion to makes Samarinda into a better and beautiful city to live and visit.
Everyday we pass the road and see many things and there’s somethings caught our attention. Do you ever take a look to sidewalk, river barrier wall, public transport halte, old buildings, walls, and so many others parts and places in the town and realize that they lose
their color and some of them is broken? It sounds just like a little problem, “Ah, its just color. There’s a lot of things government should take more attention.” Yes, its true. We know its not harm you but to be honest, in our opinion, those thing makes this city looks so ugly, colorless, and neglected. Why? Its not only in one places in our city but everywhere, all over this city. Realize it? Our city is not beautiful. Our city is a mess. Every side part of road in Samarinda is a soil. If rain fall, the soil become a puddle. Its not beautiful. The color of sidewalk is fading. Its not beautiful. So many buildings and places got vandalize by random words and something they said graffiti, if it is not the right place to do an art. Its not beautiful. Public facilities such as a halte, overpass bridge, and park got dirty because of those naughty hands.People come and go to this city.
Most visitors like to come to tepian and see the Mahakam River. When they go there, you won’t let them dissapoint because of there is not organized and dirty? They can see the riverside Mahakam that a lot of barrier rivers damaged by abrasion and until now the barrier still no repair and government hasn’t take any initiative to immediately repair the barrier, while we know that the river Mahakam is also one of the icons of the city Samarinda. Its is so embarassing.
We like to see this city more beautiful, more cleaner, more organized, and greener like our city motto, Samarinda Kota Tepian. We hope repairment of the road, the program of Mr. Jaang as the City Mayor, can be accomplished in all over part of this city and make Samarinda city’s road get better. We like to see our city get more colourfull by re-paint some of places that has been got vandalize and some part of the road get painted like a zebra cross and barrier. For sidewalk, we’d like to suggest to change it into ceramic. Besides it last longer, it also easier to clean. Samarinda has the potential to have a lot of public spot like court, play-ground, and park,by utilize the empty spaces in Tepian or develop places. Government should take a closer look to every places in Samarinda to upgrade it and develop it into city spot attraction. We put a big hope to Mr. Jaang to be bolder and focus to develop this city.
As a fellow citizen of Samarinda, we really want to live in a clean and beautiful city of Samarinda, isn’t it? To make Samarinda into our dream city, we should make an effort to it. We should aware to our neighborhood, we have to care to each other by always reminding if they did it wrong, and take some responsibilities to take care this city by not harm every facilities, follow to rule, and give some aspiration and ideas to government to make Samarinda into a better city.
Its not too late to revamp this city. Start from the citizen awareness and responsible to take care the city, also government who take a real action to revamp this city and repair it. Slowly but sure, this capital city of East Borneo, can be more beautiful than ever.
